2205 duplex stainless steel can be machined into a variety of shapes, including rods, flat bars, squares, channel bars, T-bars, blocks, rings, and hollow round bars. When machining 2205 duplex stainless steel, it's important to use powerful, rigid machines with strong tool and work piece mounting. You should also try to minimize vibration by keeping the tool extension short, and use a tool nose radius that's no longer than necessary.

Duplex 2205 is a two-phase, ferritic, austenitic 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, 5 to 6% nickel alloyed stainless steel. It is the most widely used duplex stainless steel grade and is characterized by high yield strength, double that of the standard austenitic stainless steel grades.

Alloy 2205 (UNS S32305/S31803) is a 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, 5-6% nickel, nitrogen alloyed duplex stainless steel plate with high general, localized, and stress corrosion resistance properties in addition to high strength and excellent impact toughness.

ASTM A240 Type 2507 Super Duplex Plate must conform to the ASTM A240 standards. It is a specification of chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plates. Super Duplex 2507 Plate is used in general applications and in vessels. It could be delivered as cold rolled or hot rolled.
